Warehouse Breaks Ground

A. Lloyd Steele, Martinsburg plumbing and heating contractor, broke ground Wednesday for a new showroom-warehouse along S. Market St. opposite his present headquarters. The new building of Colonial style architecture is to be constructed by Greenleaf Builders of Martinsburg and is scheduled for completion by early summer.

Teacher negotiations are scheduled to resume in the Spring Cove School District. A state mediator from Pittsburgh was scheduled to attend a meeting with representatives of the Spring Cove School Board and Spring Cove Education Association.

Hite’s Furniture Store of Roaring Spring was sold to Douglas Mingle, owner of the Roaring Spring Department Store. The Hite family operated the store for 106 years over three generations. Josiah Hite started the business in 1867 as a cabinet shop .

Chester L. Rearick of Martinsburg won the highly prized First Class certificate of the American Orchid Society at the Western Pennsylvania Orchid Society in Pittsburgh.
