Dean S. Hoover, son of Rev. and Mrs. D. P. Hoover of New Enterprise, was awarded his doctor of medicine degree from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia on Thursday. Earlier this month his brother, Paul S. Hoover, was awarded a degree of doctor of medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.

The New Enterprise Church of the Brethren and the Cove Lions Club headed a cooperative effort to aid the three families who lost their possessions in the apartment fire that took the life of a New Enterprise boy. Hundreds of dollars have been raised to buy furniture and supplies for the families.

The strong finish form which netted the Roaring Spring High School Yellow Jackets so many victories this season brought them through a hard-fought battle to win the highest prize within their grasp, the PIAA Class C Western crown.The Sigel High team bowed to the Baker-coached five, 37-34 on the Roosevelt Junior High floor Friday night.
