Claysburg Man Jailed on Attempted Homicide Charge, Accused of Smothering Child

A Claysburg man is behind bars after police said he tried to suffocate his girlfriend’s two-year-old child.

According to Hollidaysburg State Police, on March 7, troopers were called to an apartment on Edgewood Street, Greenfield Township, for a report of a male smothering a two-year-old child and discharging a firearm. Police said the resident of the apartment contacted police from a neighboring apartment to report her boyfriend, Robert D. Short, 22, had shoved the child’s face into the couch cushions.
