Greenfield Police to Use New Public Safety Policy Management Program Called Lexipol

The Greenfield Township board of supervisors held its regular monthly meeting on Mar. 7.

The police department will soon be utilizing a new public safety policy management program maintained through Texas-based company, Lexipol. The program “provides fully developed, state-specific policies researched and written by subject matter experts and vetted by attorneys,” according to the company’s website. Policies specific to Greenfield Township can also be included in the digital platform.

The program will allow the department’s policies to stay up-to-date with state and federal regulations. When a change is made, the department’s chief will receive a notification. Officers will then be asked to review the change and demonstrate their knowledge through digital training. The management program will help the department maintain its policies, ensure officers are informed of changes, and document their training.

Supervisors approved a setup fee of $14,046 and a yearly subscription fee of $1,792 for Lexipol.

The board reviewed engineering designs to switch the township’s building from propane to natural gas and add a backup generator. The project will likely be advertised for bid in April.

The road foreman is considering having Showalter Road and roads in the Blue Knob area double seal coated during 2023.

Supervisors agreed to purchase internet service through Brightspeed for the Greenfield Community Center. The amenity is often requested by renters to stream music, use the smart televisions and other functions during parties and events.

Two changing tables will be purchased for use at the community center.

The board approved vegetative spraying of select guardrails, bridge abutments and urban areas that they say are a challenge to maintain.
