Snow forced area schools to extend their school years due to cancellations for snow days. The Cove area received 57.16 inches of snow since November.

Northern Bedford School District added archery to its physical education program with help from a grant from the Pennsylvania Game Commission and financial assistance from the Southern Cove, Hopewell and Bedford County sports associations. The district bought a kit with 10 bows and associated equipment.
