FEMA Announces Grant

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced a $5.2 million grant to create a variety of comprehensive incentives to help local fire companies build their memberships and retain current first responders. Cove area companies benefitting from the grant are Blue Knob, Claysburg, Freedom Township, Friendship Fire Company No. 1 (Roaring Spring), Martinsburg and Williamsburg.

Roaring Spring borough council received notice that a property on New Street had been turned over to the borough. The property was in disrepair and the borough was hoping to sell it and have it rehabilitated.

Approximately 80 gymnasts, ranging in age from 3 to 17, participated in the Garver Memorial YMCA Gymnastics Show. The students demonstrated their skills on the balance beam, uneven bars, vault and floor routines. In between rotations, special individual routines were performed by team members.More than 200 people attended.
