The Central High School Marching Band won the President’s Award for the Outstanding Band of the Parade and the Mayor’s Trophy for first place high school band in the Maple Festival parade in Myersdale. Directed by Jack Shaffer, the Central band competed with more than 50 marching units.

Mrs. Edna M. White, 61, of Robesons Extension, Williamsburg, suffered fatal injuries when her car struck a tree along Rt. 22 at Canoe Creek at 6:10 a.m. on Tuesday. For some unknown reason her car went out of control and left the road. She was a nurse’s aide at Altoona Hospital...
