Local Woman Dies

Herald of April 20, 1923

Mrs. Elizasbeth Eberly Hoover died Wednesday, March 21 at the Altoona hospital. On the Saturday previously she underwent an operation for cancer. She stood the operation and was doing well until Wednesday morning when her condition changed for the worse, death following from ether pneumonia. Her body was prepared for burial by Undertaker Byers of Woodbury and brought to her late home at David Baker’s of New Enterprise.

Moses Lingenfelter, one of Claysburg’s foremost citizens and vice president of the First National Bank there, died Wednesday April 11 at Mercy Hospital, Altoona, where he was undergoing treatment. Mr. Lingenfelter was admitted to the hospital early in March and was operated on for appendicitis. He later underwent another operation for gallstones, and was seemingly on a fair way to recovery when complications arose which caused his death.
