Dragon Softball Continues to Win

The Lady Dragon Softball team continued the winning streak with three games this past week: one against the Richland Lady Rams and two against the Bishop McCourt Crushers. The match against the Rams was over in just six innings with an 11-1 score, while the two games against the Crushers ended in 11-1 and 8-6 victories for the Lady Dragons.

Against the Rams, the Dragons jumped to an early lead, scoring four in the first inning and three in the second whilst only giving up one. Another run scored in the fourth and three more in the sixth ended the game with a run-rule victory for the Dragons. Winning pitcher Lacey Lynn had eight strikeouts throughout the game while only giving up three hits. Kennedy Hoyt had three hits and three RBIs to match them, while Madison Kennedy (shown, 18) and Lexi Fetzer each had a home run.

In the first game against the Crushers, the Dragons jumped to an early lead once again, scoring three runs in the first and second innings, and adding five in the third for a 10-point lead after giving up one in the third inning. The rest of the game was scoreless, ending with another run-rule victory for the Dragons. Lynn hit two home runs, a double and totaled six RBIs. Kennedy, Fetzer, Bralyn Ellis and Maya Hazenstab (shown) all had multiple hits for the Dragons as well. In the second game, the first two innings were scoreless before the Dragons jumped to a four-point lead in the third. Another run in the fourth and three more in the sixth put the Dragons up seven after giving up a run in the fifth. The Crushers scored four in the final inning of the game, but it wasn't enough to surpass the Dragons. Lynn was the winning pitcher for the Dragons, chipping in 15 strikeouts throughout the match. Lynn, Kennedy and Ellis each had multiple hits as well.

The Lady Dragons boost their record to 5-0, as they prepare for the upcoming three-game week. They will face the Somerset Lady Eagles, the Westmont Hilltop Lady Hilltoppers and the Forest Hills Lady Rangers.
