New Plant Under Construction

Herald of April 26, 1973

An automatic central mix plant, capable of producing 300 cubic yards of concrete an hour, is under construction at the New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company. The new plant, scheduled for operation in June, will replace the manually operated batch plant which can produce 60 cubic yards an hour. The new plant would save time and and should save wear on the company’s mixer trucks.

J. Kenneth Stern Jr. of Roaring Spring RD opened Stern Tire Co., a wholesale distributor of tires for passenger cars and light trucks. Mr. Stern resigned from his position at Puritan Sportswear Corp. in Altoona to operate the tire firm on a full time basis.

The Williamsburg Civic Women’s Club was hosting a spring house tour. Homes on the tour were owned by Mr. and Mrs. John Ashman, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Very, Mrs. Hazel Reiser, Miss Agnes Casselberry, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Reed, and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Whiteman, Jr.
