Sale Brings in Top Dollar

The greatest amount of money ever brought in at a public farm sale in Morrisons Cove was turned in last Wednesday at the Joseph F. Cornelius sale, one mile from Roaring Spring. Receipts were between $22,000 and $23,000 for the one day.

Marl Davis of Saxton, aged 50, died suddenly Monday around 9 p.m. while eating a sandwich in a restaurant in Parksley Va., where he was employed by H. D. Blattenberger of Martinsburg, electrical contractor.

Leonard Bush, 33, was severely injured when he fell from a tree he was trimming.He suffered a fracture on the back of his head and internal injuries.

James Steele, 4, suffered a skull fracture when a car door came open and he was thrown onto the highway near Water Street.

The second class in Practical Nursing to begin this year at the Cresson State Tuberculosis Hospital will start June 1. Women ages 18 to 50 who have a year of high school are encouraged to apply.
