The Spring Cove School District is cutting its administrative staff by not hiring anyone new to replace Central High School Principal David W. Thompson. Thompson resigned to accept a position with Penn State Altoona.

Christian Bridenbaugh recently signed a national letter of intent to continue his baseball career and education on a baseball scholarship at East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C. A factor in his final decision will be the amateur draft in early June. Several scouts have indicated that he could be an early round selection.

The Blair County Airport Authority members learned that birds are once again causing problems at the airport. Chautauqua Airlines has experienced several bird strikes on their airplanes. The Authority board was considering several options to keep the birds from the runways.

Rex and Dottie Hershberger of Martinsburg were the recipients of the “Distinguished Citizen Award” presented by the Martinsburg Boosters.
