He enlisted in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard from 1967 until 1973. After returning from active duty in the summer of 1967, David started his career as an accounting trainee at Crane Company in Duncansville, and then as a cost accountant at Puritan Sportswear/Warnaco. In the fall of 1972, he started a 24 year career at Young’s Livestock Foods in Roaring Spring. During his time at Young’s/Cargill, he held various positions including accounting manager, IT manager, purchasing manager, and credit manager. David was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Martinsburg.

He volunteered his time, serving on church council, finance committee, endowment committee, and audit committee. He also served as the usher chairman for many years.

David was proud of his home town and enjoyed giving back to the community. When his children were young, he served on the Spring Cove Area School Board. He was also a charter member of the Spring Cove Educational Foundation, where he served as treasurer of the organization and chairman of the golf outing fundraiser from 1995 to 2013.

David was a sports fan and enjoyed following Central High School sports, long after his children graduated. He was also an avid Philadelphia sports fan. However, more than anything, David loved watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He had a huge heart and loved his family and friends immensely.

David always had a camera in hand to capture those small and big moments. He loved going to the beach every summer and going out to eat every week. David loved spending weekends with his children and grandchildren. He is irreplaceable and will be missed by many.
