Donna Dean (Showalter) Fisher

Donna Dean (Showalter) Fisher, 86, of New Enterprise, passed away May 4, 2023, at home.

She was born Feb. 10, 1937, in Roaring Spring; daughter of the late Luther and Alvinia (Fuiten) Showalter. On Nov. 26, 1955 at the Leamersville Church of the Brethren, she was united in marriage to John W. Fisher; he preceded her in death June 14, 1992.

She is survived by a son, Mark Fisher (wife, Vicki) of Roaring Spring; daughter, Renee Mellott (husband, Carl) of New Enterprise; son, Scott Fisher (significant other, Deb) of Duncansville; son, Keith Fisher (wife, Donnette) of New Enterprise; sister-in-law raised in the home since age 8, Nancy Fisher; grandchildren, Chriselle (significant other, Mark), Ashley (husband, David), Miranda, Kristen (husband, Christopher), and Madison; six great-grandchildren; and brothers, Gary Showalter of Roaring Spring and John Showalter of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Fisher; brothers, Jim and Albert Showalter; and sisters, Barbara Enck and Anna Claar.

Donna was a graduate of Roaring Spring High School. She was a member of the Holsinger Church of the Brethren where she was involved with Women’s Fellowship. Donna retired in 2000 as a CNA after working for Nason Hospital, Nason Home Health, and The Village at Morrison Cove.

She enjoyed pie baking, traveling and card playing with friends (Hand & Foot), watching tennis, and game shows; Donna had a love for Christian music.

A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, May 9, at the Stone Funeral Home in Woodbury, (www.stonefuneralhomewoodbury.com). Pastor Paul Snyder officiated. Interment was at Dry Hill Cemetery.

The family would like to express thanks to the employees and caretakers of FMC Dialysis and VIP Hospice.
