Spring Concert to be Held at St. John's; Community-Wide Flea Market Set for June

Spring concert

A spring concert will be presented by Paul D. Mills on Sunday, May 21, at 6 p.m. at St. John’s Reformed Church of Loysburg. Mills is a pianist, singer and composer who has toured nationally and internationally with the Continental Singers. He has acted and assisted with music direction at Sight & Sound in Lancaster, recently overseeing Esther as music producer.

He has written and directed several off-Broadway series and is the founder and executive director of New Face Theatre, New York. He leads music in his home church, Perryville Bible Church in Wakefield, R.I., and writes for Bible Truth Music.

The public is invited to attend the concert. A free-will offering will be taken to offset travel costs. Mills is a personal friend of Lorie and Bruce LaSala, members of St. John’s.

Good News Boutique

St. John’s Reformed Church of Loysburg will host a Good News Boutique (a community-wide flea market) for Southern Morrisons Cove on Thursday and Friday, June 1 and 2, in the church parking lot and pavilion. Sponsored by the Women’s Guild of the church, eight-foot tables will be rented to anyone in the community who wishes to sell items to shoppers. The boutique will be in operation from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

Sellers will be free to use church restrooms and chairs at their tables. Participants may move into the pavilion and church basement in case of showers. The guild is hoping to attract persons selling crafts and produce as well as household items no longer needed. Sellers must pack up and remove unsold items each day at closing time.

To reserve a spot, persons may call Deb Bowser at (814) 766-2801 or Barb Thomas at (814) 766-2507.
