Crash Results in a Death

An ATV crash at the Bedford County Dirt Drags resulted in the death of a 15-year-old Northern Bedford student on May 18. Kaleb Rightenour was fatally injured while participating in a race at the track.. He was in the 10th grade.
Appleton Papers in Roaring Spring changed its name to Appvion, Inc. The new name is a combination of the words “applied” and “innovation”. The name change was announced on May 13, the 106th anniversary of the mill.
The Claysburg-Kimmel School Board voted to eliminate five teaching positions in order to balance the budget for the coming school year. The board was also expecting to draw from the fund balance and raise taxes to meet the budget.
The Martinsburg Library was planning a “Dig Into Reading” theme for the summer reading program. The program is open to children in preschool through eighth grade with prizes awarded at the end.
