Threat at the School

On Friday morning a threat was reported as students at the Williamsburg Community Elementary School arrived for classes. Students were evacuated to the high school gymnasium, but parents were not notified of the situation because of the failure of the email alert system used by the district. The public learned of the dismissal through local television stations. District officials were looking into options for notifying parents and guardians in the future.

Spring Cove School District’s preliminary budget would eliminate three or four positions despite a tax increase.

Zach Pressel became Northern Bedford’s first state track and field champion by winning a gold medal in the Class AA high jump.

The Martinsburg Municipal Authority voted to move ahead with a waterline project near Central High School, even if it means taking some ground with its eminent domain powers. The project will be called the Central High Road Waterline Extension.
