Ed’s Riverside to Close

Ed’s Riverside, owned and operated by Edward Barszczowski since 1975, announced the store was closing due to declining sales since shoppers started patronizing nearby “superstores’” for the cheaper prices. Manager Dave McConahy said “Everyone wants a local store, but not everyone supports it”.

The Claysburg-Kimmel girls’ softball team won its third District 6 Class A title in five years with a 6-5 victory over Southern Huntingdon. The team won the opening round of the playoffs by defeating Burgettstown.

Reverend Charles Stump died at the age of 68 following an extended illness. He retired as the police chief in Roaring Spring in 2003 after 20 years of service. He was pastor of Ore Hill Union Church for the past 23, and also served as minister of the Roaring Spring Mennonite Church for 20 years.

Robert M. Greenleaf was honored for his 53 years of service to the Martinsburg Municipal Authority.
