New President Elected

Dale W. Detwiler of Roaring Spring was elected president of the New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., succeeding Paul I. Detwiler Sr. of Bedford. Paul I. Detwiler founded the company with his father, the late J. S. Detwiler.

Two teachers from the Williamsburg Community School District retired at the end of the school year. Mrs. Grace Hall retired from her position as language teacher at the high school. Mrs. Kathryn Foster retired from the elementary school.

Approximately 1,500 auto racing fans saw Turk Burket of Claysburg drive a 1966 Chevelle Friday night in his second win in the late model division at the Gayland Speedway, Everett.

A crackdown on “bootleg” music was announced by Amos Davis, Blair County District Attorney. A number of outlets in Blair County contain bootlegged tapes that were illegally recorded from an original master tape with the intent to sell without the consent of the owner of the master.
