Department Announces Bidder

The State Highway department at Harrisburg announced that the New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company was the low bidder for the construction of 2.25 miles of bituminous surface on route 36 between Woodbury and Waterside.

Opening the annual Morrisons Cove Memorial Picnic will be a “Radio” quiz show, with Wilbert L. “Will” Ketner, newscaster over WFBG Radio Station, Altoona, as master of ceremonies.

Organization of a men’s chorus among members of the Martinsburg Booster Association was started Friday night at the association’s meeting in Teeter’s Hotel.Twenty-four members signed up at the meeting, and more were expected to join.

The Roaring Spring Firemen will be holding a free fireworks display in connection with their carnival scheduled for Wednesday July 7. The date has been moved from July 5 as the firemen will take part in parades in Martinsburg, Huntingdon and Windber on that day.
