Sellers to Present on 'Indian Eve'

The Blair County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the Roller Hojeth Memorial Library, 431 Scotch Valley Rd.

Our speakers this month will be Carl Sellers, his daughter Lora Sellers, and his brother Gary Sellers, all members of the Dutch Corner History Group. The title of the talk is “The Legacy of Indian Eve.”

“Indian Eve,” or Mrs. Eve Ernst, was taken captive by the Indians and lived with them at their camp before being traded to the English at Fort Detroit. She eventually made her way back to Bedford County. She is buried at the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dutch Corner.

The Sellers family are direct descendants of Indian Eve and have grown up with the story in their family. They formed the Dutch Corner History Group to collect and preserve the history of the families who live or have lived in the Dutch Corner area of Bedford County and to share the history of Indian Eve.

This meeting is free and open to the public and all are invited to attend. Donations are gratefully accepted.
