Mining Companies Investigating

Two large mining companies are reportedly investigating the outcrop of lead and zinc ore at a farm off Route 867 between Bakers Summit and Lafayettesville, Bedford County. The sudden interest in lead and zinc deposits is believed to have been sparked by an article in the April issue of Pennsylvania Geology. Staff geologists from the magazine described the rich zinc-lead occurrences found in northern Bedford County.

Wilbert L. Hite and Robert C. Smith were appointed by the Spring Cove School Board as representatives to the Altoona Area Vocational -Technical School.

Inflation forced the Martinsburg Civic Club to increase prices on items on the luncheon menus for the July 4 picnic week. The prices on barbeque beef sandwiches will go up because of the cost of beef, and macaroni salad will be added to the menu. The high price of potatoes was affecting the cost of potato salad
