Damaged License Plate Replacement Event To Be Held in Bedford

Rep. Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Fulton) is teaming up with the Pennsylvania State Police and Bedford Borough Police to help constituents with free replacement of license plates that have become difficult to read.

The free damaged license plate replacement event will be held on Wednesday, June 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the parking lot adjacent to Topper’s office, 133 S. Richard St., Bedford. Drivers should enter the parking lot via the South Richard Street entrance and exit onto Central Way.

Police officers will be checking the plates and determining the need for replacement.

Drivers must bring along their unexpired Pennsylvania driver’s license and current vehicle registration card. This event is only for those with standard or personalized plates. Specialty plates such as those for veterans, PA zoos, college alumni, etc. cannot be processed at this event. If you have a specialty plate with damage, you’ll need to reapply directly through the respective organization for a new plate. Standard plates are reissued FREE OF CHARGE when deemed illegible by police. Personalized plates can be reissued either with a standard plate at no charge or reissued as personalized with a fee.

A registration plate is deemed illegible when one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet or if the registration plate shows any blistering, peeling, discoloration or loss of reflectivity.
