Greenfield Roads to be Double Seal Coated

Approximately three miles of Greenfield Township roads are set to be double seal coated after township supervisors approved the project at their June 6 meeting. A bid of $119,604 was accepted from Pittsburgh-based Russell Standard to complete the seal coating on Berkheimer, Monument, Piper Hollow, Mill, and Showalter Roads.

The company was the only one to submit a bid.

Jordan Oldham, road foreman and board chair, noted that the cost of the project was less than what was originally estimated.

Russell Standard completed a seal coat project for the township last year. Alex Musselman, vice-chair, said the company did a “nice job” on the previous project.

Supervisors approved a roof preservation project for the Greenfield Township Community Center at a cost of $81,848. Mid-State Roofing and Coating, Inc. will place a coating on the 5,200 square foot building to extend its life. The funding will come from the township’s remaining American Rescue Plan funds. The building is 36 years old and the roof has not received attention since it was constructed, according to township officials.

The carpet in the township office will be replaced at a cost of $1,114 and the walls will be repainted.

The township has prepared a draft ordinance for the construction, operation, and decommissioning of large scale solar electric energy facilities. The document will be available for public inspection for 30 days.

The township imposed a burning ban due to the dry weather conditions.

The board provided conditional approval for a 100,000 square-foot warehouse expansion project plan submitted by Sheetz, Inc. The township’s engineer noted that the project will still need a developer’s agreement with the township and the company will have other items to address before construction can begin.

The board agreed to sign letters regarding a floodplain permit and exemption from sewer planning for a new Dollar General on Polecat Hollow Road.
