Fund Drive Underway

The fund drive for a new hospital in Bedford reached forty-three percent of its $595,000 goal two weeks into the campaign.

The Williamsburg Veterans’ Memorial Celebration was planned for August 4-7. The event will kick off on Wednesday afternoon with a community picnic sponsored by the Lions’ Club in Loose’s Grove at 1 p.m.

Don Sellers, manager of WVAM in Altoona, announced the appointment of Will Ketner of Henrietta as news editor of the new Columbia affiliate in Altoona. WVAM is Altoona’s newest and most powerful station. The station is dialed on 1430 kilocycles.

The Southern Cove Firemen received a new International truck chassis that is being displayed throughout the community. As announced earlier, it is planned to equip the truck with two pumps, one being of the new fog type variety. Fundraising plans were mapped out and men were appointed to solicit funds in their areas.
