The Williamsburg Community School Board announced during last Tuesday evening’s meeting, June 18, that they were purchasing a new K-6 ELA curriculum, McGraw Hill’s Wonders. According to Elementary Principal Jennifer Metzler, the school’s curriculum “is based on Pennsylvania’s Academic ELA standards, instruction and assessment.”
Some of the Keystone Exam and PSSA test scores also motivated the District to also purchase the seventh through 12th grade curriculum for English language arts: Mirrors and Windows, along with the Understanding Pennsylvania textbook.
The following board policies were also approved: student records, supplemental discipline records, records management, security of computerized personal information/breach notification and data governance — security and storage.
The board accepted the resignation of Julianna Nevins, high school foreign language teacher as of June 30, 2023. The district is currently advertising for the position. The board also accepted Ashley Cisney’s resignation letter as a cafeteria worker effective July 2023. The board approved the superintendent’s appointment of Cheryl Lane as a full-time maintenance/custodian from July 2023-June 2024.
