Jannet L. Frederick, 98, a resident of Midtown Oaks Health & Rehab Center, Altoona, formerly of Martinsburg, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 18, 2023, at UPMC Altoona.
She was born Nov. 19, 1924, in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Albert and Mirla (Mauk) Butler. On March 26, 1946, she married Dean W. Frederick in Winchester, Virginia. He preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 2005, following 59 years of marriage.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara A. Elliott, of Martinsburg; four grandchildren: Lisa Ponder (Jim) of Roaring Spring, Randy Wagner (Jen) of Johnstown, Kris Wagner of Virginia, and Dean Miller; six great-grandchildren: Jared Ponder (Meghan), Kimberly Ponder, Katie Clapper (Devin), Justin Ponder, Ryan Wagner, and Dominic Wagner; two sisters: Deanna Pepple of Chesapeake, Virginia and Leotta Fleck of Hale, Michigan; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by two daughters: Brenda L. Frederick and Susie J. Miller; two great-granddaughters: GracieJean Miller and Alexis Miller; and three brothers: Kenny, Skip, and Jr. Butler.
Jannet was a 1942 graduate of Roaring Spring High School and was employed as a secretary at Agway, Curryville, until her retirement. She was a lifelong member of the Woodbury Church of God.
Jannet loved spending time with family and friends and also enjoyed completing puzzles, sewing, reading and listening to audio books.
A funeral was held Saturday, July 22, 2023, at John K. Bolger Funeral Home, Inc., Martinsburg, (www.bolgerfuneralhome.com). Pastor James Shaffer officiated. Interment was made at Dry Hill Cemetery, Woodbury.
