Ward Visits Roaring Spring ARCH

Last Saturday evening, July 29, 2023, a community dinner was offered at the ARCH located at 714 Rockingham Avenue, Roaring Spring. The ARCH is an outreach ministry of Faith Assembly of God Church, Roaring Spring, PA. The ARCH began its community service Nov. 15, 2021 having a mission statement: “To support and empower the family unit to withstand the pressure of this world.”

After dinner prepared by 18 volunteers, Mr. Nate Chatman, a deacon at Faith Assembly of God Church, introduced guest speaker, Pennsylvania State Senator, Judy Ward of the 30th District which includes Blair, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata and Mifflin counties.

Senator Ward expressed her appreciation and opportunity to speak with her constituents. Her opening comments were, “Bloom where you are planted and to be kind to everyone we meet.”

Those encouraging words extended into her life raised by hardworking and loving parents. After graduating from Hollidaysburg Area High School, she found employment at various jobs. One day during a gathering, Judy Ward was challenged to become a nurse. That’s it! She set her goal of becoming a nurse. She worked hard and received funding through student loans, which assisted her in attaining her goal of becoming a registered nurse. As a nurse, she ventured into different medical fields and thoroughly enjoyed her positions.

One day out-of-the-blue, State Representative Jerry Stern called Mrs. Ward to inform her of his retirement. She was encouraged by her family to consider running for the office. During her meeting with friends and others, she was convinced to place her hat in the ring. She won the election and enjoyed serving and representing the people. She continued in the PA House of Representatives for two terms until she was notified that PA State Senator John Eichenberger was considering another elective position. Representative Ward was encouraged to step-up and run for PA State Senate, and was elected to that position Nov. 6, 2018. Senator Ward concluded her message with gratitude and appreciation to use her gift of having a servant’s heart to represent the 30th Senatorial District.

The ARCH Staff appreciates the volunteers who willingly spend hours cooking, setting up and tearing down tables, chairs, cleaning and everything else that makes their monthly meals a success. Additional information about ARCH may be found on Facebook at Roaring Spring ARCH.
