Genealogical Society Speaker to Present On Glen White

The Blair County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023 at the Roller Hojeth Memorial Library, 431 Scotch Valley Rd. Hollidaysburg.

The speaker for August will be Kevin Stiver, who will present on his book “Glen White, PA: The Town that was Forgotten in the Allegheny Mountains.” Glen White is located approximately two miles beyond the Horseshoe Curve, and was a mining town that had a long history in the coke and coal industry. When the town was flourishing, it had a population of about 250 people.

Stiver was inspired by his grandfather and his own curiosity to dig deeper into the history of this town and write this book. The book was published by the Blair County Genealogical Society.

Books will be available to purchase at the meeting.

All presentations are free and open to the public. The building is handicap accessible. Donations are gratefully accepted.
