New School Year Brings Reminder of School Bus Laws

With most area students returning to the classroom this week, motorists are being advised to be alert for stopped school buses and to come to a complete stop when children are getting on and off the bus.

Pennsylvania state law mandates that motorists must stop at least 10 feet away from school buses that have their red lights flashing and the stop arms extended. Motorists must stop when they are behind a bus, meeting the bus or approaching an intersection where a bus is stopped.
