Woodbury Man Assaulted

A Woodbury man was assaulted during an apparent burglary attempt over the weekend. The man was at his residence along Route 36 when he heard a loud noise in his garage. He went to investigate and was struck on the head. The intruder then fled the scene. The victim sustained head, hip and neck injuries and was treated at Nason hospital.

Jerry Brumbaugh of Martinsburg RD 1 won the Port Colborne Pro/Am Canadian Open fishing tournament by catching a total of 53.4 pounds of fish over a three day period. Brumbaugh was also the points leader in the Northeast Division of the Operation Bass series with one tournament left.

Dr. David B Smith presented his resignation as superintendent of the Northern Bedford School District to the school board. The resignation was to take effect on June 30, 1999. Dr. Smith started his employment with Northern Bedford in 1975 as a chemistry teacher.
