HACP Works on Ad Opportunities

The Hollidaysburg Area Community Partnership (HACP) Board of Directors monthly meeting outlined a number of marketing and program and development committee projects they have become invested in within the Hollidaysburg Borough. HACP will be sponsoring all music for Third in the Burg held downtown the third Friday of each month. Third in the Burg features late shopping, music, and an evening Farmer’s Market. It has met with a large turnout of participants. HACP provides additional information on the event on their Facebook page.

The Story Walk HACP currently has 101 submissions for people who have completed the event. Those finishing the Story Walk receive a free book from the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library. The library believes they have enough books for the final weeks of the event. HACP Marketing Director Alyssa Barilar will continue to share the event and the pictures of people participating in it.

The partnership is participating with the Altoona Area Business Community for a mixer/event on Sept. 21 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Boro Coffee.

The WJAC commercial to promote Hollidaysburg borough businesses was shot Monday, Aug. 14. Lightning Bug, The Mimosa, US Hotel, Solana, The Hollidaysburg Ambulance Association and L&H Realty all were participants in it. Advertising opportunities with Fox 8/Studio 814 to promote businesses are underway. Fox 8 filming is free to attend but they are filming in Johnstown. Barilar is doing a summer video of businesses in the borough. She has footage she can use and is expecting to get more footage when she visits the businesses later in August. Barilar is also checking with businesses who are participating in the Diamond Dollar to see if they are seeing a boost in social media interaction since they are participating. It was reported that the Parks Around Town post reached 25,000 people while the Ice Cream Parlor post reached 9,000.

Board member Dr. Bob Gildea and Barilar went to visit businesses on Friday, Aug. 11. They visited both current and potential members. Gildea reported that the database on the potential member list is in good shape. He will make contact with those on that list.

Family Fun Day sponsored by HACP was held Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Canal Basin Park from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Everett Railroad had a car for photo ops, food vendors, a bounce house from the YMCA, face painting, balloon art, police and fire personnel, games and the Altoona Symphony performed in the amphitheater. Turnout was excellent for this community event.

The next board meeting is scheduled for Sept. 13 at 9 a.m. in the community room at the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library.
