Smith Returns to School

Sara Margaret (Peggy) Smith returned to the Morrisons Cove High School after a nearly 3 year absence. On February 26, 1945 she was badly burned at her home by flames from a furnace. During the courageous battle to retain her life and finally the use of her limbs, she spent 14 months in hospitals and 16 months in bed at home. Two thirds of her body was seared.

Roaring Spring High School Yellow jackets will launch their 1948 football season at 8 p.m. Friday at Athletic Park, with the Beaverdale High School Beavers as their opponent.

Steel beams were placed for the bridge near Waterside on the section of the highway now being rebuilt between Woodbury and Waterside. Excavation of the large cut at the S. C. Replogle farm nearby is continuing. The work is being done by New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company.

John Warham, one of the teachers in Huston township, spent Monday getting the Acker school room in shape for students.
