Bike-a-Thon to Pass Through

The “Tour De Dunker” Bike-a thon sponsored by the Middle Pennsylvania District Church of the Brethren was scheduled to pass through the Cove. The “Cove Loop” will start with breakfast and worship at 6:45 a.m. at the Williamsburg Church of the Brethren, and cyclists will finish at the Martinsburg Church by 6 p.m. The cyclists planned to visit all the Church of the Brethren congregations in the Cove. The riders hoped to eventually visit all 55 churches in the district by riding various circuits for a total of 350 miles.

The 2nd annual benefit auction held for the Clinic for Special Children in Strasburg, Lancaster County raised approximately $45,000. Fifteen full sized hand made quilts were auctioned off at the sale held in Woodbury. The top selling quilt brought in $850.

Pearl (Koontz) Diehl of Homewood, was celebrating her 99th birthday. She was still in good health, and enjoyed reading her bible and participating in activities at Homewood.
