Patterson Passes Away

Herald of Sept. 23, 1948

Charles Atlee Patterson, 82, died at his home in Williamsburg. Mr. Patterson was the oldest justice of the peace in Blair county, having served since 1900. He was a former postmaster at Williamsburg, and organized three banks in his time: the First National Bank of Williamsburg, the First National Bank of Bellwood, and the First National Bank of Martinsburg.

The first annual F.F.A. Fat Hog show and sale will be held on October 12 at the Morrisons Cove Livestock Market. Some twenty boys representing seven Future Farmers of America chapters in Blair, Bedford and Fulton Counties are expected to enter approximately 75 hogs.

Over 900 tons of tomatoes grown in the Cove were shipped to the Heinz company, according to Field Man Miles Whetstone.

The Woodbury schools are now having a full time lunch through the efficient work of the head cook, Mrs. Wilford Miller, and her assistants, Mrs. Romaine Teeter and Mrs. Maude Kepple.
