Drew G. Smith, 74, of Martinsburg, formerly of Roaring Spring, passed away Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 5, 2023, at Homewood at Martinsburg.

He was born June 24, 1949, in Roaring Spring, son of the late Gilbert A. and Grace Evelyn (Stoudnour) Smith. On May 2, 1970, he married Linda A. Hugo at the Curryville Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda of 53 years; four children: Garrett A. Smith (Robin) of Martinsburg, Kristina J. Snowberger (Kevin) of Roaring Spring, Douglas D. Smith (Mandy) of Martinsburg and Stacey L. Dibert (Dave) of Martinsburg; eight grandchildren: Austin Smith (Kellie), Isaac Snowberger, Spencer Smith, Kase Smith, Garrison Dibert, Adalyn Smith, Lynnae Dibert and Nikolaus Snowberger; a great-grandson, Hudson Smith; two sisters: V. Joy Helsel of Roaring Spring and Jolene G. Bassler of Curryville; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers–in-law: John Helsel and Donald Bassler.

Drew was a 1967 graduate of Central High School. During school he worked at the A&P in Roaring Spring, where he later served as manager.

In 1978 Drew obtained his license to sell insurance, which became a longtime career in Insurance Industry.

For many years he was a member of Curryville Church of the Brethren and for the past ten years was a member of Bare Memorial Church of God in Roaring Spring. Drew was also a member of the Roaring Spring Lions Club, National Wild Turkey Federation and Trout Unlimited.

Drew loved spending time with his family, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and also supporting the local Blair County 4-H Clubs. He also enjoyed yard work, planting flowers, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, attending Power Reunions, fishing and hunting, especially Potter County Bear Camp.

A celebration of life was held Friday, September 8, 2023 at Clover Creek Church of the Brethren. Pastor Barbara Hammond and Pastor Duane Crumrine officiated.
