Richard 'Rick' Bechtel

Richard ‘Rick’ Bechtel 66, of Buckeye, AZ passed away Sept. 1, 2023, in Goodyear, AZ.

He was born at the “old’ Nason Hospital in Roaring Spring, March 20, 1957, to Thelma R Dodson and James C Bechtel.

He graduated Central High School, Martinsburg, in 1975. He received his higher education from the Ohio Institute of Technology in Columbus, Ohio and his AE in Electrical Engineering Technology from the Altoona and Willes-Barre Campuses of Penn State in 1979.

In April 1984, Rick married Anita Angle from Claysburg, in Leesburg, VA. She survives him along with his sister Cheryl Delozier and her husband Gary of Peoria, AZ. He also leaves behind sisters-in-law Margaret Angle of East Freedom, and Cecilia Angle Mahosky and her husband Greg of Toledo, Ohio.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, his nephew Craig Jordan Delozier and his parents-in-law William and Mary Ellen Shaw Angle.

Rick had an outstanding and rewarding career in the telecommunications industry. Over four decades he went from developing TV converter boxes to becoming a director of distribution of high-speed data networks using fiber optic technology. He was inducted in 2008 as a member of the Cable TV Pioneers. Rick was also a long-term member of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers.

Rick enjoyed traveling and the game of golf being fortunate to play both Pebble Beach and St. Andrews Old Course. He played golf for the Transplant Olympics in Utah, Georgia, and Florida.

Many blessings to the families who gave the Gift of Life, especially to BJ and Ruth from Belen, NM who gave Rick over 25 years of dialysis free life.

No services are scheduled and interment is private. Masses may be offered.
