Police Make Arrests

State Police in Bedford County made 3,158 arrests for violations of the liquor laws during the first nine months of the year. Half of that number was bootleggers.

The stork made a recent visit to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kauffman, and brought a fine baby boy. And now it’s “Grandpa Detter”.

Mr. Chalmer A. Thomas of Altoona and Freeda Mae Leidy of Curryville were married October 18 in the parsonage of the First Church of the Brethren in Altoona. The bride was attired in white canton crepe and carried pink roses. The bridegroom is employed by the P.R.R. Company in the steel car shop. They will reside with the bride’s parents.

Alexis Camerer, a well known aged resident of Martinsburg, died Friday at the Morrisons Cove Home for the Aged. He was born in 1842 and spent his entire life in the Cove where he followed the occupation of plasterer.
