Ask the Williamsburgers

It’s November, home to my favorite holiday: Thanksgiving. Any excuse to cook a big meal, enjoy some great shopping, and watch football is a perfect day for me. As usual with this time of year, I like to know what is on the readers’ Thanksgiving tables — and maybe get some ideas for my family’s.

So what is your favorite Thanksgiving side dish? Here is what a few residents had to say:

Robin Brantner: My mother-in-law’s stuffing balls and my mom’s candied sweet potatoes

Terry Shooter: Mashed potatoes sandwich – and my homemade stuffing and gravy

Josh Detwiler: Pickled eggs

Bonnie Hammond: Mark Wahlberg

Jon Detwiler: Groundhog

Richard Gorsuch: sweet potatoes

Diana Barroner: Absolutely stuffing with gravy

Zena Saylor: Sweet potato casserole

Stephanie Rhodes: My family’s stuffing, gravy and mashed potatoes

Marge Troxell: Filling

Leeann Aurandt: Baked corn

Ashley Morgan: Homemade stuffing and green bean casserole

John Fay: Mashed potatoes and stuffing

Linda Lemin: All of it

Kevin Wise: Cranberries

Polly Eastep: Stuffing

The old saying that your food tastes change as they get older really ring true for me. For many, many years, I was adamant that sweet potatoes were gross. However, one year ago, my dad Rick (who subsequently answered the question above) dared me to try one and well, it’s been a love affair ever since. So for me, sweet potatoes are the best Thanksgiving side dish.
