In a battle of the unbeaten teams, the Central Dragons squared off against the Richland Rams for what was meant to be a battle of epic proportions. However, with the Rams suffering a number of injuries, the Dragons dominated the matchup, crushing their opponents with a score of 43-15. Without a doubt, the Dragons had an astounding game, possibly the best of their season whilst finishing their undefeated regular season and celebrating their Senior Night.
This truly showed in the first half, where the Dragon started by receiving the ball. Starting things off quickly, the Dragons' early lead came from a 36-yard touchdown reception by Jack Dunn in the first quarter. Once the Dragon defense forced a turnover, the offense plowed downfield to score with a one-yard run by Hunter Smith. Then, after recovering the ball once more, Smith broke out with a huge, 23-yard run with only three seconds left in the first quarter. The Dragons didn't let up in the second quarter either, scoring twice more with a seven-yard run by Smith and another 36-yard reception by Dunn.
The Dragons slowed things down in the second half, giving up a singular touchdown in the third quarter before answering back with a one-yard touchdown run by Britton Marko. Only one more touchdown was scored by the Rams before the Dragons were declared the conference champions.
Finishing with a record of 10-0, and an undefeated regular season, the Dragons will now have a bye week in preparation for the District 6 AAA championship the following week. Congratulations to the senior members of the football team, marching band and cheerleading squad.
