Nov. 11 is known here as Veterans Day. In Canada it is Remembrance Day. In the U.K. it is Armistice Day. It is the day the WWI ended. President Woodrow Wilson said, “It is a day to remind us of the tragedies of war.” (World Book Encyclopedia) Tragedies abound during war: There is of course loss of life, the wounded and weary, the sorrows of families, the enormous expense, devastation of land and property, bitterness of enemies, and so much more.
