Our Sunday School Class has begun a study from the Book of Daniel. One of my favorite verses was highlighted: Daniel 1:8 “Daniel resolved not to defile himself…” Remember the story of Daniel. He was taken captive, likely as a teen-aged boy, and carried off to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar’s conquering army. There he was among those chosen to be schooled in the culture of the Babylonians to be useful to the king. There was undoubtedly a lot of pressure on Daniel to ‘fit in’.
