Fall Country Store Tour Shows Off Cove Businesses

The Cove Country Store Tour was held Nov. 3, 4, 10 and 11. For those who wanted to get started on their Christmas shopping or just wanted a day to get out of the house and explore this is for you.

This correspondent started the tour on Friday, Nov. 3. There were 12 businesses to visit, most giving a discount for the tour. Some provided light refreshments.

I started at Nolt’s Furniture Barn, where there was a large selection. This building was great to roam through seeing all kinds of items. Free refreshments were given out.

Next, a trip to Piney Creek Greenhouse was in store after an enjoyable ride through Martinsburg to Sportsmen Road. Besides the plants at Piney Creek, there are the numerous birds. It is amazing in this tranquil environment to hear and see these birds. The greenhouse was alive with poinsettias and other Christmas-like plants growing.

The next stop was Kathy’s Country Cricket. This beautiful business is in an 1800s log cabin. There are two floors with handmade furniture and other items. They will make anything from wood.

Fisher’s Party Central was loaded with clothing on the Jane and Jean Boutique side. Party items were on the other side.

Gartland Supply had many Christmas items and gnomes. All kinds of supplies were available for purchase.

The last store for this day was the Village Closet, which had great deals.

For a fun day in the Cove, try this tour. If all 12 places are completed, participants may register for a grand prize, which is a $50 gift card that can be used at any of the 12 participating businesses.
