Board Hears Request

The Roaring Spring Zoning Board of Appeals heard a request from the Friendship Fire Company for a zoning variance that will alow the firemen to construct a new fire hall in a residential area. The firemen hope to build on a 200 by 140 foot property they own on Robinson Avenue. Thirty-seven nearby residents sign a petition to oppose the building plans.

Judge Robert C. Haberstroh will be the principal speaker at the annual Christmas Party and Ladies Night of the Martinsburg Booster Association held at the Memorial Park Dining Hall.

The Spring Cove School Board voted to allow the juniors and seniors at Central High School to hold a dinner-dance in Altoona instead of having the traditional prom next spring in the high school gymnasium.

Fred Glasgow, a record setting player for the Northern Bedford football team was named by the Associated Press to its All-State Football team. He has had scholarship offers from dozens of colleges and universities, but has not made a decision.
