Cove Roads Drifted Shut

The Salemville correspondent said it would cost the township about $100 to open all the roads that were drifted shut. Men with shovels were being hired. The mail carrier between Salemville and Bed-ford via Loysburg was traveling on horseback due to road conditions.

About 75 members and friends of the Martinsburg Methodist Church invaded the parsonage to wish the pastor, J.K. Lloyd, a happy birthday. He was present-ed with a handsome Morris chair and other necessities of life and comfort as tokens of good will.

Roaring Spring voters buried the idea of a sewer system deeper than the pipes would have been buried. The borough was turning its attention to the purchase of a stone crusher to improve streets.

The engine watchman at the Williamsburg station. B.F. Carper, was beaten by two men when he approached one of them on the tracks at 2 a.m. He presumed they were planning to break into James Patterson’s store.
