Cold Winter Helps Apples

Fruit Growers in the Cove reported that they expected an excellent apple crop because the cold weather of late winter had kept the sap from rising too early.

Blair Hershberger and Harry Jamison of Loysburg were planning to go to North Dakota to seek employement.

Rev. John J. Holsinger was boiling maple syrup at Bakers Summit.

Curryville was reported to be furnishing more milk to Altoona than any other place.

D.Z. Pote of Bakers Summit, a respected citizen, retired to bed in good health and arose the next morning to find that we was entirely blind.

Simon S. Kauffman of Henrietta sold a fine pair of horses to Bishop Durr for $200.

Roaring Spring officials were planning a firemen’s hall with mayor’s office, council chambers and lock-up.

Royer Hartman, who had a position in Altoona, spent a weekend with his parents in the Williamsburg area as he often did.
