We know Abraham is called and was ‘The friend of God’. That is wonderful. But something in Genesis chapter 20 challenges my thinking. Abraham tells a lie. He is traveling as he did for most of his life. He comes into a region controlled by Abimelech. We don’t know if that is his name or his title as Pharaoh is a title. At any rate, it was customary for a king to take any beautiful, unattached woman into his harem. Abraham tells Sarah she is beautiful. Now she is likely in her mid-eighties.
