Writers Support Barger in Primary Election

To the Editor:

The primary election for the 80th District state representative race is being watched across the Commonwealth.

Rep. Jim Gregory has served since 2018 and has campaigned as being a conservative standing up for our community and our values.

How conservative is it for our representative to nominate and vote in favor of a far-left liberal democrat to be speaker of the House when the Republicans have a slim majority?

How conservative is it to continue to vote to fund the University of Pittsburgh in light of its abhorrent conduct with aborted children?

How conservative is it for our representative to continually side and broker deals with the PSEA? Is it no wonder that no conservative colleagues of Gregory’s have endorsed and/or support him?

Fortunately, we have a true conservative to vote for on April 23, Scott Barger, who will stand firm on principles and our values in Harrisburg.

To the Editor:

As a mother of two young children enrolled in a private Christian school, I expect my legislative representatives to appreciate the important role that parents play in choosing the type of education that their children receive.

I also expect my legislators to advocate for all forms of education in Harrisburg; private, public, charter, and homeschool.

Scott Barger, candidate for state representative of the 80th District, is a graduate of a private school (Blair County Christian) and is married to a public school teacher.

He understands that parents want different options for their children and he recognizes that parents know best, not the government, and not a powerful union.

Join me in voting for Scott Barger on April 23; a candidate who will fight for parental choice.

Editor’s Note: The Herald normally reserves the week immediately before an election for candidates to reply to any published letters to the editor. In this case, the letters from McCarty and Walker were routed to the Herald’s email junk folder and were not discovered until past the deadline for voter letter submission.

In the interests of fairness, and because the date stamp proved that these letters had been emailed before the deadline, the Herald has decided to run these letters this week.

The office of Rep. Jim Gregory and Rep. Gregory himself were both contacted by the Herald. Rep. Gregory was given the opportunity to reply to these specfic letters because he will not have a chance to have a response published in the Herald before the Primary Election on April 23.

Please note that if you email something to the Herald and do not receive a reply stating, “Received,” then we did not receive your submission.

Thank you for your interest in the Herald and the upcoming election.
