Fire a Fire Destroys 200 Acres
Herald of April 28, 1949
A raging forest fire in the Woodbury Barrens destroyed 200 acres of woodlands in the heart of the Cove’s “deer country” and severely burned a sawmill operation. Fifty men marshaled by fire wardens Fred Kyler Benjamin Brumbaugh brought the fire under control by back firing. The fire was near the Blair-Bedford line between Baker Summit and Woodbury.
