Army Nurse Named ‘Queen’

Ethel Brumbaugh of Martinsburg, who served in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II, was chosen by audience applause as “Queen of the Hour” in a benefit show by the Martinsburg Business and Professional Women’s Club. Prizes valued at $300 were distributed to the queen and others in the audience. Profit from the show was earmarked to buy eyeglasses for underprivileged children in the community.

Helen Jean Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin N. Brown of Martinsburg, was named maid of honor in the queen’s court in the traditional May Day pageant at Juniata College. She...
